Welcome to Aqua Luna Dhangethi, a boutique guest house on the peaceful local island of Dhangethi in South Ari Atoll. Inspired by an island legend of catching the moon in a bowl of water, this modern retreat is run by a Maldivian family and blends boutique comfort with the warmth of a real island home. Opened in 2025 and just steps from Bikini Beach, it offers air conditioned rooms, free WiFi, daily breakfast, a restaurant and a spa. Days here are for snorkelling the house reef, meeting whale sharks and manta rays, and watching golden sunsets over the lagoon. Only about two hours by speedboat from Malé, Aqua Luna is your gateway to authentic island life, world class diving and unhurried Maldivian hospitality.
Aqua Luna Dhangethi sits on Beach Road in the heart of Dhangethi, a charming local island in South Ari Atoll, about 90 km southwest of Malé. Bikini Beach is just a one minute walk away, while Dhangethi Beach is around five minutes on foot. The island port and the traditional Kuda Miskiy mosque are close by, and the whole island is easy to explore on foot along sandy streets. The surrounding waters are known for whale sharks, manta rays and vibrant reefs, making this one of the best bases for diving and snorkelling in the Maldives. Guests arrive by scheduled speedboat from Malé in roughly 1.5 to 2 hours, and the team assists with jetty transfers and luggage.
Combine island culture with ocean beauty on this two in one excursion. Stroll through Dhangethi's sandy streets, meet friendly locals and discover daily island life, then head out to a pristine sandbank for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing in the lagoon.
Experience a true island tradition with a night fishing trip under the stars. Head out by dhoni, drop a line into the dark water and try your luck with local fishermen. It is a relaxed and authentic adventure, and a great way to enjoy the quiet magic of the Maldives after sunset.
Set sail on a traditional Maldivian dhoni as the sun melts into the horizon. Drift across the lagoon with golden light on the water, cool sea breezes and a sky painted in orange and pink. It is a peaceful, romantic way to end the day.
Escape to a sparkling white sandbank in the middle of the ocean for a picnic you will never forget. Relax on soft sand, swim in turquoise shallows, snorkel nearby and enjoy a delicious meal with nothing but sea and sky around you.
New to diving✯ Discover Scuba is the perfect first step. No licence is needed. A friendly instructor guides you through the basics and takes you on a gentle shallow dive near the shore, where you can enjoy corals and marine life up close in calm, safe conditions.
Dive straight into the colourful world of the Dhangethi house reef, just minutes from the shore. Expect vibrant corals, schools of tropical fish, turtles and reef sharks. It is an easy and rewarding dive, led by experienced guides from the nearby dive centres.
Glide above elegant manta rays as they feed and dance through the crystal clear waters of South Ari Atoll. This half day excursion sets off in the morning aboard a boat with a guide, and is an unforgettable way to meet one of the ocean's most graceful visitors.
Swim alongside the gentle giants of the ocean on a guided whale shark snorkelling trip. Dhangethi sits close to one of the Maldives' best known whale shark spots, reached by a short boat ride from the island, and these graceful creatures can be seen throughout the year. Slip into the warm blue water and enjoy a once in a lifetime encounter.
